The Kings wheelchair basketball team was organized in 1987 by National Wheelchair Basketball Hall of Famer Jack Graff. The Nassau Kings play a majority of their home games (along with their practices) at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY. It was Jack Graff’s goal to provide an outlet for the physically disabled in Nassau county, and nearby areas, through competitive sport. The Kings are a member of the Eastern Wheelchair Basketball Conference (estb. 1953) and the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (estb. 1949).

In addition to the team's competitive schedule, the Kings provide an educational format to different schools in the county. The team members give awareness presentations to different schools each year. The team also works hard all year round to welcome newly disabled individuals, bringing 'sports' and 'recreation' to those that are disabled and want to compete in such sports as part of their rehabilitation and overall quality of life.
